We’ve been crazy these days setting up our plan to visit Lhasa,Tibet probably during long independence holiday Oct, 1-7. A lot of issues are related, regarding visa, permit, TTB, PSB, tour agent, hotel, flights, guide, malaria and rabies injection, all driving me insane. Many ads we’ve seen but none satisfying us. Yet we still want to have a visit to what others call "The Roof of The World". If anyone ever had the experience or has any advice on how to get there the easiest, the simplest and also the cheapest way, pls inform us thru this blog or leave your address and we’ll contact you for further info. Million Thanks.

Hi, I have some tips for you about Tibet. I visited Tibet for a 9-day tour in May 2004 and I took the plane from Chengdu. I also have a friedn who had just returned from Tibet last month and he went on the newly established train back to Beijing.
My view of Tibet is that it is very beautiful and breath taking. But at the same time its high altitude makes it not suitable for everyone. So be prepared for the Altitude Mountain Sickness that can affect some people to a greater extent than others. Bring extra strength Panadol and Tiger Balm/ Vicks, things to cobat feelings of nausea and headaches. For clothing, bring a whole range of clothing from the ones for 25C to below zero temperatures, and bring those you can wear in layers. I went in May which was the best weather of the year and the warmest daytime temperature, yet at night the temp goes down to zero and I even drove through a snow blizzard on the way back from Namtso Lake in the morning. I think that in October the temperature will be much lower, just make sure that the places you will stay at have heating if possible. In Lhasa this should be not a problem, but for places outside of Lhasa this will be difficult to find, as well as in the monastery which you probably will be staying at if you plan to go to the Mt. Everest base camp.
