My story, Chinese FoodMay 29, 2006 3:55 am

What a Monday morning! A bit lazy to start the job chores. Today’s breakfast menu at the hotel gave another surprise, a glass of yoghurt. Unfortunately Andam missed it. She preferred to stay at the room tried to recover from yesterday’s tiredness. Talk about the meals, remembering me of what happened during the last two days before. Honestly, one reason of why I really wanna go to Beijing is just for “Kentucky Fried Chicken”.

I have been sick enough of all the Chinese meals so far. All the things about “Fried chicken” always pop ups in my head lately and almost blow my head apart. Just can’t wait any longer. I am a chicken freak. Alas, what I have afterwards is just disappointing me. As a real kentucky fried chicken freak, the taste is just too flat for my tongue. Of all my experiences travel around kentucky’s outlets in the world. I definitely know its genuine taste.

A little bit dizzy this morning, woke up at 7.10 a.m, missed the breakfast and last night’s American Idol show. Just to watch my idol Mr. Yamin on his last performance in AI 5 was so hard to be done. What a great loss for me.

Edwin keep urging us to write something for our blog….and there is something to tell but I’m really not in the mood. If my story this time was not enjoyable to read and the english grammar were messed up, please forgive me….hehehe. At least I’ve tried my best to write about our trip to Beijing last weekend.

Finally we figured out which the best way to get to Beijing by bus, after a week asking people here and there on how to get to Beijing by bus. There are 3 route of bus trip from Yanjiao to Beijing actually but we didn’t know which one is the best route we should take. The best route here meant the shortest, the most convenient, with the station close to our hotel and a very slim chance to get lost. We left Yanjiao at 2.00 pm after attending the lunch invitation from the husband and the son of my supervisor back in Jakarta office. The lunch was great. The restaurant served fish submerged in vegetable oil and mixed up with a lot of spices. The taste was very strong and it would last on your tongue for a quite long. The best chinese dish by far, my favourite.

here, in Yanjiao we have a million of TV channels…but only one -yes, it’s only one- channel using english as their language…this ‘excellent TV channel’ is CCTV 9, an international broadband channel in the world…at least that’s what they called themself…

some other channels also have one english segment for the news…but maybe just half an hour english news…

and there are two or more for sport channels…well, we don’t need any language to watch any sport games, right…???

we also have several movie channels…one of these channel always put the english subtittle at the bottom of the TV screen…so we still can enjoy their movies…it’s 80s/90s chinese movies…

My story 2:15 am

Last night Fitrix were on his golden time. Speaking frankly–very unlike Fitrix that we (used) to know–he was completely utterly different. Having no clue what he ate last night but he made it. I thought there was something in his oatmeal or sesame seed that he ate regularly for dinner or finally he got the essence of the game. It got him the power to defeat US. Despite the fact that he used to be the looser, last night he ruled. I used to pity him before just because he looks like he was a very very amateur player and always be the person who shakes and splits the cards between us. Not last night, my heart full of hatred and rage for he ruined my cards several times. But I wasn’t the one who suffered the most.

Edwin—Since he sold his soul to a merciless evil woman for a stupid agreement:)p- never seem to march up his way back to victory and last night was the worst. He sank. Edwin actually is one of the "GURU", together with Suryadi he is the master of the game. They taught us (me and Fitrix) how to play and also set up the rules for the game. Maybe that’s the reason why he wanted the game to be continued as he would fight back fitrix and win back his pride. Let’s just wait and see……what kind of trick he settle for the next game.

Play the game……ev’rybody play the game……This is your life don’t play hard to get……It’s so easy when you know the rules……It’s a free…free world……all you have to do is falling love……Play the game……ev’rybody play the game……of love……

Dear diaryMay 24, 2006 7:51 am

It’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon Yanjiao time and still have no idea how to make this day valuable to my life. Learning something that you’re not really in to it, kind of depressing actually. But how can I escape from such obligation. So, I made a self promise that I will push my self to the very limit and  will never waste my time nor energy for useless activity that will bring no benefit to my life.

I really want to write something about Yanjiao, the small city that we live in for the next 3 months but I want it to be very detail and well described so that when you read it you can imagine it in your mind what Yanjiao looks like and get a sense on how’s the life in Yanjiao. A complete story with nice and high quality pictures taken by our amateur photographer.

What’s the plan for the afternoon?……going to the supermarket, maybe……only in here, in Yanjiao, I found that going to the supermarket is enjoyable:) While I was in Jakarta, never thought that this kind of activity can be fun or entertaining. Ouch… I got to stop at this point and continue our story in Yanjiao some other time.

Another boring day is coming on my way……la…la…la

Benchun!!! Keep yourself alive guys!! and Sane……….

We went to Beijing Botanical Garden last weekend…strolling the summer days as the flowers start blossoming.

It was quite large area…400 hectares, you can spend the entire day just to walk around the complex and it’s not actually only the botanical garden but there’re also Wofu Temple, Memorial of Cao Xueqin, Tomb of Liang Qichao and also several kind of gardens…Perennial Garden, Penjing Garden, Bamboo Garden, Rose Garden and so many other gardens exist within the complex.

The Botanical Garden itself  was not really special to my opinion, only one or two kinds of plants (ex.giant golden barrel) never seen it in Indonesia, the rest was nothing compare to the plants in Indonesia. This made me love my country even more.

About UsMay 22, 2006 2:40 am

The idea to create this blog is basically coming from a lot of funny stories, interesting experiences that we undergone during our journey in China. Though it’s still an Asian country but we as Indonesian (which is also an Asian country) found a bunch of differences with Chinese customs.

We thought it would be interesting for 4 of us to put a little thought to write it and share our unforgettable experiences which moved us emotionally as well as aesthetically.

Why we named our blog ‘Benchun’? Benchun is practically a word which frequently used among us to mock each other during our weak, lazy, boring days…just to keep our spirits on board, cheering up,widen our smiles…enduring our journey, here in China.

live and survive, try to bounce and dare to change...
